Handmade Pots Workshop
Explore Traditional Japanese Pottery with Richard Naylor
Immerse yourself in the art of traditional Japanese pottery in this 2.5-hour Sunday workshop, guided by professional potter Richard Naylor. You’ll have the unique opportunity to create two beautiful, handmade pots, perfect for fitting a 7cm plant, using two traditional techniques that embody the slow, intentional process of Japanese ceramics:
Kurikuni Method – Carve a pot from a solid block of clay, allowing you to sculpt a simple, organic shape.
Pinching Method – Shape a pot by pinching and moulding the clay into a form that reflects your unique style.
Throughout the session, Richard will provide expert guidance, helping you add patterns, textures, and finishing touches to make your pots truly one-of-a-kind. You’ll also choose from a variety of glazes to personalise your creations. After the workshop, Richard will bisque fire, glaze, and fire your pots again, with your finished pieces ready for collection in 3–4 weeks.
All materials are included, and refreshments will be provided during the workshop. No prior experience is needed—just come ready to learn, create, and have fun!
