Hands of Clay - Kurinuki Yunomi

In this edition of Kurinuki, you’ll learn the ancient Japanese hand-carving method to create your very own pair of ceramic tea cups.

Guided by ceramic artist Richard Naylor, you’ll begin with solid blocks of clay and gradually carve away to reveal vessels with unique textures and character. No two pieces are ever the same—each cup reflects the maker’s hand and process.

Along the way, you’ll discover the meditative rhythm of Kurinuki carving, balancing form and function as you shape your cups. The focus is on process and presence—letting the clay guide you as much as your tools.

All materials are provided—just bring an open mind and enjoy the tactile, mindful experience.
Your finished pieces will be glazed and fired after the workshop, ready to be picked up 3–4 weeks later.

Booking Policies:
We understand that plans can change, and unforeseen circumstances may arise. In the event that you need to cancel your attendance to our workshop, please adhere to the following cancellation policy:

1. Cancellation Notice: We kindly ask for a minimum of 72 hours notice prior to the workshop start time if you need to cancel your registration. This allows us to accommodate other participants who may be on a waiting list or interested in attending.
2. Refund Policy:
   • If you cancel 7 days prior to the workshop, we will provide a full refund of your registration fee.
   • Cancellations made 3 days prior to the workshop will receive 50% of your registration fee.
   • If you cancel within 24 hours of the workshop, no refund will be given.
3. Cancellation Process: To cancel your registration, please email or phone with your full name and workshop details. We’ll process your request as promptly as possible.
4. No-show Policy: If you fail to attend the workshop without prior notice, you may forfeit your registration fee. We strongly encourage you to inform us of any changes to your plans to avoid inconvenience for both parties.
5. Workshop Rescheduling: In rare cases where we must cancel or reschedule the workshop due to unforeseen circumstances (e.g., extreme weather, instructor unavailability), we will notify registered participants as soon as possible and offer alternative dates or a refund.
